Chemical peels are often used to minimize sun-damaged skin, irregular pigment, superficial scars, and acne. The top layer of skin is removed with a chemical application to the skin. Removing this top layer regenerates the skin, often improving its appearance. Smart Spa offers medical-grade glycolic peels (30% - 55%), lactic peels (30%-55%), salicylic peels (10%-30%), as well as multiple advanced peel blends to lighten, brighten, and improve the skin.

Anyone with pigmentation problems (freckles, sunspots, uneven skin tone, melasma), acne and acne scarring, and fine lines and wrinkles can benefit from an appropriate chemical peel. Lactic acid results include increased elasticity of the skin, improvement of fine lines and wrinkles, and plumper skin due to the humectant properties of lactic acid. Glycolic acid results include increased elasticity of the skin, improvement of fine lines and wrinkles, and lightening of hyperpigmented areas. Salicylic acid results include improvement in hyperpigmented areas, drying of active acne lesions, improvement of fine lines, wrinkles and superficial blemishes.

A licensed esthetician will review pretreatment instructions with you and have you sign an informed consent sheet. All natural oils are removed from the skin prior to treatment using an alcohol solution. The acid is then applied and left on the skin for no longer than 7 minutes. It is then neutralized and followed with an appropriate treatment mask. A moisturizer and SPF are then applied. The entire treatment takes about 30 minutes.

Results are immediate and last up to a week for a single treatment. We recommend one chemical peel per week for 6 weeks followed by one treatment per month to maintain results.
